First! Please enjoy this lengthy explanation of how EPGP will be handled from in regards to weapons. Thanks so much to Calta for writing all this, my first draft was nowhere near as thorough:
EPGP For Weapons and Offhands: By: Calta
Recently, there has been some confusion as to the epgp system and which numbers to use on weapons, shields, ranged, and wands.
Which number to use depends on what class and what spec you are.
A main spec tank will be concerned with both the white stats on a shield (block, armor, etc) and the green stats (+dodge, +parry, +stamina, +block, etc) so would use the larger number for a shield
A shield wearing healer is only concerned with the green stats (+int, +sp, etc) so only uses the smaller number for a shield.
Hunters are concerned with both the white stats (Dps) and the green stats (+ap, +agi, etc) so will use the larger number for a ranged weapon.
All other ranged and wand users only worry about the green stats so will use the lower number for a ranged weapon
Hunters only worry about the green stats, so will use the lower number on main and offhand weapons.
Tanks (not dk) are only concerned with the green stats, so will use the lower number on mainhand weapons.
Dual Wielders worry about both the green stats and white stats of their mainhand weapon, so will use the larger number for their main hand.
Dual Wielders worry about both the green stats and white stats of their offhand weapon, however the offhand weapon only does 50% damage. They will use the lower number for their offhand weapon.
Casters are concerned with both the white and green stats, so will use the larger number. The white dps of a weapon is converted into spell power through some fixed formula, so the SP on a weapon is actually a white stat.
Hunters only worry about the green stats, so will use the lower number.
Melee classes are concered with both the white and green stats so will use the larger number.
Casters are also concerned with both the white and green stats, so will use the larger number. The white dps of a weapon is converted into spell power through some fixed formula, so the SP on a weapon is actually a white stat.
Dual wielders (fury warriors) will use the lower number for the offhand weapon since they only do 50% damage with it.
Death Knight tanks are considered to be melee users in terms of their weapons.
The end result of all of this, is that each class/spec will only pay the large number for one of their weapons, shield, ranged slots and will pay the lower number for everything else. This leads to everyone paying a similar price for those slots. Fury warriors will end up paying more becasue 2h weapons are higher gp. Paladins, Druids, death knights and shamans will end up paying a little less, since they do not have a ranged slot and totems, relics, sigils and librams no longer drop from bosses.
For dual wielders there will most likely be some concern as to whether a 1-handed item (2-handed for fury warriors) will be used main hand or off hand and so which should be paid, since it can be used in both slots. This will be looked at case by case, but essentially, if its item level is higher than your currently equipped main hand weapon, it will be assumed to be replacing that and therefore charged the higher number. If it is higher than your currently equipped offhand weapon, but not higher than your mainhand weapon, it would be considered to be replacing your offhand and therefore charged the lower number. If it is the same as your main and offhand weapon, then you are likely only paying 1/4gp for it anyways, so it would be 1/4 the higher number.
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS OR FEEL YOU ARE OWED GP FOR GEAR ACQUIRED WITHIN THE LAST MONTH WHISPER TIEMUS OR ANGERONA
EP Now Scales with Gear Level
Second! Due to the higher GP value of 277 heroic items, we are changing how EP is awarded during our raids. The amount of EP you receive every 10 minutes will be based on the item level of loot the boss drops NOT whether or not the boss is progression. The EP values are as follows
Boss drops:
277 loot: 15ep/10min
271 loot: 12ep/10min 25 LK and 25 RS
264 loot: 10ep/10min
LADY DEATHWHISPER IS THE EXCEPTION TO THIS. This brings me to point 3.
Based on where we are in progression/recruitment/attendance we feel it is prudent to form a consistent group, learn to work well together, and get geared before we put serious attempts into heroic Putricide, heroic Sindragosa, and heroic Halion. To this end, we are putting a hold on progression for the time being. Raid will consist of a heroic 8/12 clear with a couple heroic attempts on Deathwhisper each week. After that we plan to down Putricide, Sindragosa, Halion, and the Lich King every week on regular. It will be 15ep/10min for all of ICC up to 9/12 including Deathwhisper even if we don’t down her heroic. The remainder of ICC will be at 10ep/10min and LK and Halion will be 12ep/10min. Again if you have any questions or concerns whisper Tiemus.
Late, Absentee, and Standby EP
Currently we deduct 30 ep for being late to a raid you have accepted on the calendar. This is being raised to 100 EP. Don’t be late. If you are going to be late and let Angerona know in advance via in-game mail, there is no penalty for this. If you still get EP deducted, it was probably a mistake, so just say something and it will be reversed. Standby EP is awarded to those who show up on time for raid. If you are late you will only get EP if we bring you in. If you are late but it’s been planned and we know that you’re coming straight to raid after work, then you will still receive standby EP. We often have the need to cycle someone out near the end of the night and are trying to encourage people to stay on standby while also encouraging them to show up on time. Coming to raid 15 minutes late because you don’t want to raid but you do want standby is not an option.
New Break Policy
Also to deal with people going AFK between pulls we are planning on trying out having several scheduled breaks throughout raid. We feel that having everyone take a break at once (having the chance to go to the bathroom, stretch, get food etc.) will increase efficiency by quite a bit. We plan on having around 3 breaks over the course of raid for 5 min each. We’ll be testing out different lengths and distributions but this is the plan for now. If you go afk during raid (barring an emergency of course) you will be given a 1 minute window from the time your are afk for a ready check. If you are not back by that time you will be replaced. If no replacement is available you will be charge 100 EP and possibly more depending on how long you make us wait. If you have to go afk during raid for some unexpected reason, a simple and quick whisper to a GM is more than sufficient to avoid these consequences. It only takes a moment to type /t Tiemus emergency brb however long. You have been made aware of the new policy so please understand you are responsible for adhering to it. It will improve your raid experience greatly if everyone uses this standard of practice instead of waiting around all the time while 25 people try to take their individual breaks wherever they can. Know that we are not stupid either; if you go afk because your grandma is choking on a meatball 5 times in one raid, we’re not going to believe you AND you should probably have her looked at by some sort of health care professional. Don’t be the boy who cried wolf and we’ll be understanding when you have an emergency. Please note this does not include people with connection issues. You will be replaced but you won’t be charged EP. People’s internet fails, it happens and a dc is a pretty clear message to us that you’re having issues. Simply disappearing from raid is not. People who have disconnected but are clearly spending raid time trying to fix their internet will be placed on standby. Though we would prefer having you in the raid, if you are working to have a fully functional computer, that is (in a way) doing something to benefit the guild.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can talk to any GM about any and all of what is included in this very long post. I know the changes are mostly minor but we hope they will have a seriously positive effect on how we do things.
